We do not recommend shutting off your pool for extended periods such as over night. When the pool is not running, the chlorinator or brominator (if you have one) is not functioning and therefore not sanitizing the pool, making your pool more susceptible to algae or water chemistry issues. We especially recommend leaving your pool running when adding chemicals or during a water chemistry issue as good circulation is important.
We sell pool equipment, pool chemicals, spas, spa chemicals and other related products.
We install inground or onground steel wall, vinyl lined pools and aboveground pool kits.

To calculate the amount of water in your swimming pool, use this formula:
Volume = Length x Width x Average Depth
To calculate the average depth, add the depth of the shallow end to the depth of the shallow end and divide by 2.
For example:
16 x 32 x ((8+4)/2)
= 16 x 32 x 6 = 3072 cubic feet of water
To convert this into litres, multiply the number by 28.32. This gives you approximately 87000 litres of water.
Water can go cloudy for a few reasons. To determine the cause of the issue, please bring us a sample of your water. It could be related to pH and alkalinity, it could be the start of an algae bloom due to inadequate sanitizer levels, or just dirt and debris. Whatever the issue might be, we are happy to help you resolve it.
First of all, brush down the algae from the walls, stairs or anywhere it is visible. Do not vacuum up the algae. If it gets into your filter, it can grow in there and will come back into your pool via the jets. Proceed to do a chlorine shock (even if you have a salt pool) either in liquid or granular form. If you prefer granular chlorine, we sell it in small pouches to large tubs. If you prefer liquid shock, bring us your chlorine jug to be filled, or you may purchase a jug from us if you do not already have one. After thoroughly shocking the pool, the algae will begin to die and the water will appear grey and milky. Sometimes more than one shock is required to achieve this. When the pool turns milky and grey, you can put in one of our clarifiers to remove the dead algae and clear up the water. We highly recommend bringing us in a water sample during this process.
Shocking once a week for maintenance is usually required in most pools. If you are not sure if you need to shock or not, bring us in a water sample. We recommend doing chlorine shocks in the evening. This is because UV rays burn off chlorine, therefore you will get the most use from your chlorine at night. After doing a shock, do not put your solar blanket on (if you have one) for at least 12 hours to prevent damaging the blanket. We recommend waiting about 12 hours after a chlorine shock before swimming again. We also sell a product called Zap that allows you to swim about half an hour after shocking if you cannot wait.
If there's a great deal of construction in your neighborhood it could just be dirt blowing in from near by. However, the chances are greater that something in your sand filter is cracked. If you put your hand in front of the return (or jet) and feel something gritty coming out this will confirm a crack. Usually the crack is in the standpipe or the laterals inside of the filter.
